Description
Lieutenant Chester D. Griffin of San Antonio, fighter pilot who was killed in action. Two Japanese Zeros and two probables are credited to First Lieutenant Chester D. Griffin of San Antonio, fighter pilot killed in action in China last May 18. Griffin received the Distinguished Flying Cross for 50 combat missions. In addition he was awarded the Air Medal for 25 missions over enemy territory. One week before his death he had parachuted to safety over China. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dana B. Griffin of Marysville Ohio. His widow, the former Dorothy Hall of San Antonio lives with her parents. Image and description from Star-Telegram, Morning Edition April 20, 1944.
