Description
Lieutenant Spencer Smith Junior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Smith Sr., was honor cadet of graduating class at Terrell British Flying Training School, the first time since Americans have been received for training in the school that an American has won the honor. The graduates were addressed by Air Commodore H. T. Lydsord, of the British Air Force command. Smith completed pre-flight training at Kelly Field. He was commissioned as second lieutenant in the Army Air Forces. He was squadron leader of his cadet class. Smith graduated from Paschal High School and was a senior at TCU when entering the AAF in February, 1943, and was a Star-Telegram salesman. Photograph is of Lieutenant Smith in uniform.
