Description
Staff Sergeant Eddie E. Weidel received the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters for the 51 combat missions he flew as aerial gunner in an A-20 Havoc over Tunisia, Sicily and Italy. Overseas since the November 1942 invasion of North Africa, he came home on furlough in February and married Miss Gladys Duke of San Antonio. A native of Flatonia, he is the son of Mrs. Ferd Weidel. Photograph is a portrait of Sergeant Weidel wearing his uniform. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, April 17, 1944.
