Description

Mr. and Mrs. Sigmund Hindley. She is the former Mary (Stuttering Sam) Dowell, showgirl, and he is a New York Broker and manufacturer. Mary is a famous Billy Rose's showgirl for 6 years and got her start begining with his initial show in Casa Manana in Fort Worth in 1936. They couple had a double ring ceremony performed in the Dowell home which was officiated by Rev. J. K. Thompson, pastor of the the First Presbyterian Church. They stood before an improvised altar decorated with pink hydrangeas, Easter lilies and white tapers. The bride's wedding dress was simple, made of hyacinth blue, lightweight wool with harmonizing print blouse. She carried a prayer book, bound in white leather, wore white accessories, tight-fitting hat and a large corsage of orchids. Mr. Hindley wore a double-breasted, pinstripe suit, pocket square, boutonniere and patterned tie. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, April 12, 1944.
