Description
First Lieutenant Tyndell Lewis of Tyler, awarded Air Medal and nine Oak Leaf Clusters. Tyler, who piloted a P-38 Lightening fighter in the Mediterranean, called his plane "freckles, a pet name for his wife. He wore a red baseball cap on all his combat flights. He is now stationed in California with the 4th Air Force. His brother, D.C. Lewis Jr. is an instrument flying instructor at Fort Worth Army Air Field.
