    Description

Captain R. H. Dow was very content Wednesday to be back in Fort Worth after two tours of overseas duty, to get acquainted with his 11 month old daughter, Gene Michele, who was born while he was in the South Pacific. The young captain, notified of his right to wear that second bar on his shoulder after he arrived home on leave, was more excited over the fact that his blond young daughter can say "Daddy" than he was over his experiences under fire in both Atlantic and Pacific combat areas. Dow commanded a signal company handling radio communication in the Samoan-Ellice group of islands from February, 1943, until he was relieved to come home on leave. Dow, a native of Yoakum, Texas, is son of Mrs. Emma Dow, 3131 Hemphill. He attended Abilene High School and Hardin-Simmons College, where he and his wife, the former Bessie Meece, were campus sweethearts. After returned from Iceland in April 1942, they were married. Dow is wearing his military uniform standing against a wall. Star-Telegram Morning March 16, 1944
