Description

First Sergeant Richard Thornton Pass of San Antonio is awarded the Silver Star for his coolness and gallantry in action under shellfire at the Salerno landing, Sept. 9. He joined Company D, 141st Infantry and then the 36th Division. He was born on a ranch near Junction. His mother, Mrs. Mae Pass, is a civilian worker at Kelly Field. Photograph is a portrait of Pass wearing a civilian suit and striped tie. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, April 12, 1944.
