Lieutenant junior grade Charles E. Phillips, one of the original members of the Hell Divers Squadron recruited in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1942. He is standing in front of a blank wall, wearing his military uniform. Phillips wears the Navy Cross and also holds the Distinguished Flying Cross. He is a graduate of Paschal High School.
