In 1923 he changed to a truck and delivered between 150 and 200 packages per day. Mr. Dinkins retired from the post office after 30 years of service in 1939. He was enjoying retirement-- relaxing and fishing when the manpower shortage called him back. He went to work on an assembly line building B-24 Bombers. Mr. Dinkins suffered a heart attack two weeks before his passing. He is pictured in his postal uniform.
