Major (Maj.) Sam Palmer Junior (Jr.) is a five-plane ace in the Army Air Force. He is presenting his mother, Mrs. Sam Palmer Senior, with a silk coat he brought her from China as a souvenir. Major (Maj.) Palmer spent seven-months of combat flying alongside Major General (Maj. Gen.) Claire Chennault, commander of the U. S. Army Air Forces in China, 1942-1945. Major Palmer is wearing an Army Air Force uniform. Mrs. Palmer is wearing a dark dress with a brooch. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, January 13, 1944.
