Description
Seven barracks for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollees assigned to develop the park is shown in the picture. Work is to begin in early 1941. Nearly 7,000 acres of Brazos Valley land has been deeded to Texas for the newest park, Possum Kingdom State Park, near Breckenridge. The broad Brazos River valley is shown in the background. The river valley is to be transformed into a 67-mile long lake with the completion of Possum Kingdom Dam. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, October 13, 1940.
