Collins, 4840 Crestline, Miss Terry Friday told how she rode 'a funny old truck' from Jenshow in Szechwan province to the capital of Free China, Chungking. There she boarded a plane for Calcutta and on to Australia, where she took passage on a Swedish freighter to Honolulu. From there she flew to America, which she had visited for the first time in 1939-40.The peril of the trip wasn't so much from the Jap[anese], who were driven off once by anti-aircraft fire, but from a fire at sea.The blaze broke out about 1 a. m. when the ship was south of Hawaii.
