Clipping:"Refugee Is Safe After Perilous Trip From China By Stanley Gunn.The excitement of bombings, refugee trips, floods, famines and lootings which have been an almost daily diet of 17-year-old Becky Terry since she was born in China followed her on a 19,000-mile trip from Chungking to Fort Worth.At the home of her aunt, Mrs. Will F. Collins, 4840 Crestline, Miss Terry Friday told how she rode 'a funny old truck' from Jenshow in Szechwan province to the capital of Free China, Chungking. There she boarded a plane for Calcutta and on to Australia, where she took passage on a Swedish freighter to Honolulu. From there she flew to America, which she had visited for the first time in 1939-40.The peril of the trip wasn't so much from the Jap[anese], who were driven off once by anti-aircraft fire, but from a fire at sea.The blaze broke out about 1 a. m. when the ship was south of Hawaii.
