Description

Private First Class Ormond Pirtle of Frederickston Missouri addressing package. Mrs. Palmer Hogan and Mrs. Roland G. Mayer are helping. (woman at extreme left not identified.) Four people at at table covered with wrapping paper and gift boxes watch as Mrs. Hogan applies holiday wrapping paper to the cover of the shirt box lid. Mr.s Mayer is watching and Pirtle is writing on the label of a paper and string wrapped parcel with pencil. The unnamed woman on the left is wearing a dark dress and a small hat. She has earrings and a shiny broach or pin on her lapel. Hogan is wearing a suit-style dress and a necklace with large beads, also a wedding ring. Mayer is wearing a dark dress with ornamented pocket flaps on the bodice. Pirtle is wearing a military uniform jacket over a lighter shirt and solid color tie. He has pins for his unit, a stripe showing his rank, and a decal on the shoulder for his unit. Clipping: "Two AAUW [American Association of University Women] members, Mmes. Palmer Hogan and Roland G. Mayer, chairman, are at work at the SMC [Service Men's Center]--one dressing up a gift while the other supervises the final addressing of a large package for mailing, being sent out by Pfc.
