Description
Captain Jones L. Callaway showing his wife a fly swatter. In the photograph, Captain Jones L. Callaway is showing his wife a camel's hair, bone-handled fly swatter from Tunis. His wife is standing to his left and looking at the fly swatter. She is wearing a dress and earrings. The dress has three quarter sleeves, with three buttons and a belt. There is a wide, loose ribbed pattern in the center of the top part of the dress and at the top part of the bottom half of the dress. Captain Callaway is looking down at the fly swatter which he is holding in his left hand. He is wearing a four-pocket army uniform. The uniform includes a collared shirt and tie. There is a "US" pin in addition to another pin on each jacket lapel. There is also a pin above the right breast pocket and a service ribbon. His metal captain rank bars are visible on the right shoulder of the uniform. Behind Mrs. Callaway, there is a window with blinds and decorative curtains. The blinds are open and the curtain is pulled to the side. It appears to be dark outside. Behind Capt. Callaway, there is a vertically striped Queen Ann sofa.
