Description

Lieutenant John L. Van Dyke has returned home after being stationed in Hawaii since last October. He is enjoying spending time with his wife, Mrs. Van Dyke, and meeting his five-month-old son, John Lee Junior, for the first time. Lieutenant Van Dyke is a bombardier in the United States Army Air Corps. While in the Pacific Theater, he received the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster. The lieutenant is a former composing room employee of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. He is dressed in his military uniform. John Junior is sitting on his father's lap, dressed in a jumper. Mrs. Van Dyke is sitting on the couch, next to her husband. She is wearing a dark button-up dress with a white collar. On the end table there is a photograph of the lieutenant in his military uniform.
