Description
The 1943 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Winners of the tournament will advance to the Tournament of Champions in Chicago, Illinois. Corporal Harry E. Flowers is shown standing in the ring, smiling after earning a victory over Emil Zoltak for the middleweight crown. Despite the title, Flowers is unable to attend the national tournament due to his military service. Zoltak, the runner-up, will take his place. Corporal Flowers is wearing athletic shorts and boxing gloves and has a coat draped over his shoulders. Standing in the background, with his back to the camera, is an unidentified man.
