Description
Mrs. Delia Clehand is shown sitting in a patterned armchair with ball of string in her lap as she crochets a doily. She is wearing a long-sleeve, dark dress and wears a pair of eyeglasses. Mrs. Cleland is a native of Ireland who moved to America when she was 20. She has had to two sons, Walter J. Cleland who served in the Navy during World War I and now Corporal Clarence W. Cleland , who transferred to Camp Howze, Gainesville. She moved the Fort Worth in December to be near her son. In many ways Mrs. Cleland finds the second World War similar to the first. Living in Jamestown, North Dakota then, she was one of Jamestown's busiest Red Cross worker. This time, she feels a little too old for the activities but is anxious to do anything she can. She like Texas very much and happy her son can spend weekends with her. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, evening edition, February 17, 1943.
