Description

Betty Richardson, left, and Mary Lou Slay of Rhome High School, who won first place in the girls' debate contest of the District 10 Interscholastic League Literary meet at Texas Christian University. They defeated the girls' team of Paschal High School, Carol Rogers and Betty Fuqua, for the honor of competing in the Region 3 meet in Denton, Texas, on April 20, 1940. Miss Richardson and Miss Slay are standing against a blank wall, holding their trophy. Both students are wearing dresses and hats. Miss Slay is wearing a watch on her left wrist.
