Allen, of Polytechnic High School, far right, is shown in the lead; he beat out Don Frye, of Arlington Heights High School, far left, and Lawrence Lampkin, center, of Riverside High School. Allen scored eight-and-one-quarter of Polytechnic High School's 21-and-one-half total points. Several unidentified runners are behind the three boys. Spectators are standing at the right, beside the track, watching the event.
