Sandra Ruth Burton, 6, drops a coin in the collection box at Denver Avenue Elementary School (later renamed Rufino Mendoza, Sr. Elementary School. Small Sandra is shown holding the small, drum-shaped collection box, while looking up at a poster of service men on a bulletin board. Below the poster is a small sign that says, "American Junior Red Cross", on it along with other pictures that are hung up on the bulletin board. Sandra is wearing a checkered-printed dress with a collar. Her father is J. G. Burton. Published in The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Morning Edition December 6, 1942.
