Description
Will Rogers Junior, 30, second Lieutenant in the Army, walking across an airport landing field. He is also a Democratic candidate for Congress for a California district. He did well in his absentee campaign and gained a huge number of votes in the Democratic primary and also in the Republican primary. It is an old California custom for candidates to cross file in the primaries of both parties. Lt. Rogers was away at army officers camp during the primaries. If he were elected in November, under the ruled laid down by President Roosevelt, members of Congress who are in the armed forces will have to decide whether to serve in one or the other. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, September 2, 1942.
