Description
The Rubberless Parade is being held in Abilene, Texas, proving that West Texans still love their horses. There is never a gathering without their "Mounties". More the 500 horseback riders are taking part in the parade. Pictured on their horses left to right are Jim Elpen and Mack Merchant. Both men are cattlemen and longtime residents. Mr. Elpen is wearing a cowboy hat, button-up shirt and trousers. Mr. Merchant's family was among the founders of Abilene. He is dressed in a cowboy hat, button-up shirt, trousers, and chaps. Behind the men in the procession is a horse and buggy.
