    Description

Ben Fleming, right, presenting check to the local scrap rubber drive committee, which is a part of the larger nationwide effort being led by President Roosevelt. "A 'rubber' check that was welcome is this one for $470.60 which Ben Fleming, chairman of the recent scrap rubber drive, is shown presenting to Captain R. E. Dysart, director of enlistment and training for the Civilian Defense Council. The check represents part of the proceeds from the rubber campaign, conducted for the benefit of the council program. Arch Blanton is the salvage chairman and C. W. Wofford is the committeeman and district manager of the Magnolia Petroleum Company, which provided a lot for dumping the rubber collection and then brought the rubber." Captain Dysart is wearing a uniform and holding his hat, while the other gentlemen are wearing suits.
