    Description

    J. V. Owens, 17, held by police in the fatal stabbing Sunday night of Truett M. Johnston, 21, of 408 West First Street, Monday asserted that he was convinced when he struck the knife blow that he was acting to save his own life. 'No, I'm not sorry,' he told newspapermen. Meanwhile funeral arrangements were being made for the victim, the son of Mrs. J. F. Johnston of Fort Worth. He was charged with murder Monday in Justice of the Peace Brown's court, and, unable immediately to furnish $1,000 bail, was placed in the Tarrant County jail. Owens said in his statement to the Assistant District Attorney Ray that animosity between Johnston and himself started Friday night in a sidewalk fight on South Main Street." Mr. Owens hair is parted to the side. A piece of stray hair hangs just above his right eye, and he is staring into the distance expressionless. It appears as though there is a pack of cigarettes in his left breast pocket.
