Description

"Finding scrap rubber scattered throughout Tarrant County proved an easy task for Star-Telegram Photographer Paul McAllister as this photo testifies. It shows J. S. Johnson of Route 6, North of Fort Worth, looking through an old tire, ready to be contributed to the Federal Government in its scrap rubber drive." Mr. Johnson is peeking at the camera through the hole of a tire, which is propped up on a barrel. He is smiling a warm smile. He is wearing vertically striped overalls, a light colored-button up shirt, and Western-style hat. Behind him, an automobile and rural horizon are filling the background.
