Description

Image shows a exterior shot of the Stanley and Clara Thompson residence. Seventeenth and eighteenth century English manor houses provided the inspiration for the home. The architecture is late Elizabethan and the interior and furnishings are eighteenth century, with adaptations. British Lions, in duplicate, guard the wide steps of the flagstone terrace from which the home is entered on the east. Mullioned windows and half-timbered sections are typical Elizabethan details which add charm to the exterior. The roof is of tile, hand-made to simulate the hand-rived shakes with which original Elizabethan mansions are roofed. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram Sunday edition April 28, 1940.
