Description
$69,000 United Services Organizations (USO) Club at Brownwood, Texas was dedicated Monday, February 23, 1942. Keys changed hands six times. In this scene Dick Dixson, center, field recreation representative for the Federal Security Agency, finally directed E. B. Germany, right, State United Services Organizations (USO) chairman, to hand them to Corporal (Corp.) Francis Abel of Fort Madison, Iowa. Mr. Germany is handing over the keys to Corporal (Corp.) Abel, who is looking down at the keys. Mr. Dixson is looking directly at Abel and motioning with his hands, as if in mid-sentence. Corporal (Corp.) Abel is dressed in military uniform. Both Mr. Dixon and Mr. Germany are dressed in suits and ties. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, February 25, 1942.
