Description
The 1942 Golden Gloves State Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Squaring off in the ring, left to right, are Laverne Roach and Hector Marquez of the bantamweight division. Marquez, of El Paso, Texas, is shown winding up to throw a powerful left. Roach, of Lubbock, Texas, is using his strong footwork to dance out of the way and prevent the lethal blow from landing. The close match went to the judges and Marquez won the victory on points.
