Description
The 1942 Golden Gloves District Tournament is being held at Will Rogers Memorial Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. Squaring off in the finals, left to right, are Sam Bates and Robert Balew. Balew is a welterweight, competing in his fourth Golden Gloves competition. Bates is shown crouching below a blow. He went on to win the fight, becoming the welterweight district champion.
