Description
The Texas Christian University football team is hosting the visiting Southern Methodist University at Amon G. Carter Stadium. Unable to get the running game going against the Frog line, the Mustangs took to the air. Shown here is the play that set up the Mustangs first touchdown. Abel Gonzales (dark jersey at the far right) is firing a bullet to his ace end, Kelly Simpson. Simpson is running a sharp swing-out toward the sideline. Frog halfback Frank Medanich (10) closed in quickly to chill Simpson with a terrific tackle. Despite the stop, the Mustangs scored a touchdown on the next play. Also pictured for the Frogs are Captain Bill Crawford (61) and pass rushers Fred Taylor, Mike Harter, and Ronnie Brumbaugh. The Frogs went on to beat their old rivals 15-13. Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram evening edition, December 1, 1941.
