Description
A Naval ship, the USS Reuben James, was hit by a torpedo near Iceland on October 31, 1941. Announcement of the sinking ship was broadcast over the radio. Families of the crew - seven officers and 136 enlisted men - are awaiting news. Mrs. Charles Cox is the wife of a crewman on the ship. Mrs. Cox is wearing a scarf in her hair, a button-up blouse, blazer, and a skirt.
