Description

Letters from Eugene Victor Debs in McHenry County Jail to Frank X. Holl. The first letter was written in October 15, 1895 and in it Debs returns a book of Captain Gerloch and thanks Holl for sending it to him. The second letter was written in January 14, 1895 and it states Debs's thanks to Holl for the $100 he received from him. The third letter was written in January 16 1895 and in it Debs congratulates Holl on getting new members for the American Railway Union (ARU) and states "My tongue is silent but my pen is at work". The fourth letter was written in January 18, 1895 and it states instructions from Debs to Holl in regards to articles and the American Railway Union (ARU). The fifth letter was written on July 18, 1895 and it states details from Debs on his portrait from Mrs. Ann Love Holl. The last letter was written on July 9, 1895 and in it Debs expresses his content with his portrait by Mrs. Ann Love Holl.
