Description
Participating in the groundbreaking for the new General Motors (G.M.) factory, Arlington, Texas are (from left) left, James L. Conlon, General Manager of GM; Edwin C. Klotzburger, Arlington plant manager and John E. Gordon, Vice President of General Motors. There are two men standing behind the group. One is Tom Vandergriff, a legendary booster and mayor of Arlington, Texas. The other gentleman speaking into a microphone is Amon G. Carter, Sr. All of the men are wearing suits and ties and appear together in front of a podium. The three participating in the groundbreaking ceremony are shoveling dirt from the ground using ribbon-decorated shovels.
