Description

Arlington State College students sign petition to change the school's name to The University of Texas at Arlington. This followed a "Save Our School" rally to protest a proposed name change at the school. The proposed name change was made by four members of the A&M board of directors in December 1964, and the group proposed to name the school "Texas A&M University at Arlington." The petition was to be sent to the Texas Legislature, asking for complete independence from the A&M system, and had been signed by more than 1,500 students prior to the rally.
