Abstract
Design work from the 2000 spring semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Casino. Katherine Galpin. An indoor skiing attraction is the enticement to lure gamblers to the casino and hotel, and set it apart from competing casinos. Spatial, visual, and visceral excitement is essential for Las Vegas, and key to the success of any project. Lifts arrive at the top of a torqued-formed meandering enclosure containing three separate ski trails. The trails are divided into beginners, intermediate and advanced, determined by the steepness and relative difficulty of twists and turns. At the bottom of the trails, skiers arrive at the casino, where surfaces rise above and over the ski lifts and hotel.
