Abstract

UT Arlington Physics Professor Kaushik De, Ph.D., is the U.S. computing coordinator for the ATLAS experiment, one of four experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN in Generva, Switzerland. ATLAS is a particle physics experiment that explores the basic forces that have shaped our Universe including the origin of mass, extra dimensions of space, microscopic black holes and evidence for dark matter candidates in the Universe. The LHC is the highest energy accelatrator in the world. Dr. De received UT Arlington’s Outstanding Research Achievement or Creative Accomplishment Award in 2009. The award recognizes faculty for noteworth research or creative accomplishment. He has taught at UT Arlington since 1993.
