Mascot Samantha Maverick cheers alongside various campus organizations gathered before the first MavsMeet Convocation for incoming freshmen at The University of Texas at Arlington. 1,800 students representing 54 campus organizations paraded from the E.H. Hereford University Center to Texas Hall. Held the first day of the fall semester, the event informed and entertained new and returning students with speeches, skits and music. Students learned the alma mater and the proper way to extend their thumb and pinky to form the school's spirit sign. Following the convocation, they headed to the east lawn of the Activities Building for food, bands, an illusionist and interactive games.
