Caption in UTA Magazine July 1984 issue reads "Handicapped Student Services Director Jim Hayes is in a new kind of race--to be the next Wheaties breakfast cereal champion. Student Services is backing Hayes' bid by sending in entry forms from boxes of the "Breakfast of Champions" and urges others to do likewise. Wheaties will donate $1/entry form to the sponsoring organization, plus the winner's group will receive an additional $5,000. When not eating Wheaties, Hayes is busy setting national records in wheelchair athletics and will play on the U.S. Olympic team competing in Stoke-Mandeville, England this summer."
