The Texas AFL-CIO, a federation of local unions and central labor councils in Texas, is a central body that represents labor interests and acts as the policy-making, educational, and legislative arm of AFL-CIO labor at the state level. These records constitute Series VII of AR110: Texas AFL-CIO Records. They consist of records pertaining to the Mexican American Affairs Committee and contain correspondence, legal documents, minutes, reports, newsletters, photographs, lists, essays, notes, newspaper clippings, and booklets. Topics include the rights of migrant workers in the United States; efforts to organize labor; trials and litigation, including the case brought by the Texas AFL-CIO against the Attorney General and the INS over Mexican commuter workers; and economic conditions along the border.
