Attending the first anniversary party for the Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) at The University of Texas at Arlington were, from left: Delia Gonzales and Francisco "Pancho" Medrano, archival donors; Elsie Mendez, emcee; and Jo Ann Reyes, alumni of UTA. The event was held in the Arlington Hilton grand ballroom to raise funds in support of the center. The center was founded by director José Ángel Gutiérrez and began operating in October 1994.
