Description
Charlie Brooks Jr., an inmate on death row at the Tarrant County Jail. Brooks is seen with a tray of food while being interviewed by Fort Worth Star-Telegram reporter Jim Morris. The clipping reads: "Brooks, 39, came within four days of being executed last December for the 1976 murder of used-car lot attendant David Gregory in Fort Worth. A stay of execution issued by U.S. District Judge David Belew, however, ensured that Brooks will not be put to death in the near future." Brooks was the first prisoner in the United States to be executed by lethal injection in Huntsville, Texas, on December 7, 1982.
