Description

Courtney Gibson of Arlington, Texas participates in a candlelight vigil on April 10, 1981 commemorating the 23 young Black people slain in Atlanta, Georgia. The vigil, sponsored by the Black Students Union, was conducted outside the library of The University of Texas at Arlington. A small oak tree was planted in the victims' memory at Cooper Street and Campus Drive, as participants sang "Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand" and "We Shall Overcome."
