Description
Headshot photo of Opal Lee for a news feature in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The clipping reads "Opal Lee, 61, is rarely at home. She can be found conducting tours at the Tarrant County Black Historical and Genealogical Society headquarters in east Fort Worth, or chatting with elderly patients at the Bertha Collins Senior Citizen Center or counseling teenagers at her church, Baker Chapel African Methodist Episcopal. Single-handedly, she has kept alive an annual tradition of conducting city leaders and area residents on bus tours of economically depressed Fort Worth neighborhoods to point out landmarks respected by minority residents 'and to show people how other people live.' Except for a stint at home raising children, Lee has devoted her life to community causes and helping those in need."
