Description
Some of about 30 University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) students are seen carrying signs in protest of the 30 mph speed limit on Cooper Street. Campus police stopped traffic for the march, organized by a UTA Student Congress committee. The protestors paraded back and forth across Cooper Street for about 15 minutes to illustrate the problems pedestrians face crossing the heavily traveled street. Protest organizers also sold T-shirts and gathered signatures on a petition seeking a speed reduction to 20mph. The petition gained about 3,000 signatures and was presented to the Arlington City Council.
