Description
The Bicentennial celebration began in Fort Worth with the raising of the Bicentennial flag in ceremonies at the Federal Office Building Plaza on Throckmorton Street. Similar flags went up at the same time at 137 other federal sites in the Southwest. Among participants were Fort Worth Mayor Clif Overcash, center, and Mrs. Edward W. Sampson Jr., chairwoman of the Bicentennial Committee of Fort Worth.
