Description
Van Cliburn plays a newly acquired Steinway concert grand piano. The clipping reads "The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition began the countdown to its 1977 meeting here with the dedication of a new Steinway concert grand Wednesday in the Fort Worth Art Museum. Van Cliburn himself was on hand to play the first few notes on the instrument, and his mother, Rildia Bee, also was present to receive the official dedication in her honor. The piano was subscribed by 88 donors, for the 88 keys on the piano, who each paid $100 towards the purchase of the concert instrument." Published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition, September 16, 1976.
