These Texas Golden Gloves champions are due a trip to Louisville, Kentucky for the national tournament. Top row, left to right, Flyweight Jessie Rodlea, Bantam Manuel Navarro; middle row, Feather Floyd Molina, Lightweight Pat Bishop, Welter Jesse Valdez; bottom row, Middle Eugene Meeks, Light-heavy David Harman, and Heavy-weight John Phillips. Phillips was the first Black boxer to win a Golden Gloves state championship.
