Linda Atkins of Grand Prairie tied her long blonde hair into pigtails and listened to the coaching before she threw the discus in the Winter Olympics at The University of Texas at Arlington. The Alpha Chi Omega coed had good form, but came in second. Published in Fort Worth Star-Telegram morning edition November 22, 1968.
