Description

Many a homeowner has trouble getting grass to grow in his yard but vegetation seems to have no problem thriving in the downtown area, much of it on city-owned property. Weeds flourish even at Burnet and 6th. The city's sidewalks seem to have a fertilizing effect on the plants. The anti-weed ordinance hardly applies in the downtown area since it only covers lots where weeds average 12 inches or more over the whole area. Fort Worth Star-Telegram Evening edition May 9, 1963.
