Winner of the “Stairway to the Stars” competition was The Different, which is a jazz instrumental group. The members are, left to right, Charles Scott at piano, band director; Larry Marshall, bass; Eugene Hudson, baritone sax; George Grisby, drums; Lee Allen, trombone; Larry Tisdall, tenor sax; Anthony Stephens, tenor sax; Harlee Glover, alto sax; Dwight Allen, trumpet; and Eddie Brinkley, trumpet, who are all students at Dumbar. The group of boys are photographed with the instruments, all in suits and ties. Fort Worth Star-Telegra Evening edition March 1, 1968.
